Thanks to Colin Ramage of Cairdeas / ex-North Sea Gas fame, I’ve finally been able to complete the lyrics of “Broadford Bay”. Colin helped me fill in the gaps left by my incomplete understanding of the Scottish “braw” in several parts, so here goes for all posterity:

Broadford Bay

Std Tuning, no capo

1)
the timeless tides are sweeping
on the shores of broadford bay
a quiet heart is waiting
for the dawning of the day
How bright the orange sunrise
as the darkness fades away

CHORUS
here we are you and I
on the bonnie Isle o’ Skye
together walking in the morning sun

2)
The restless clouds are drifting
The sunlight breakin’ through
to dance upon the diamonds
of the early mornin dew
And soft the happy whisper
as I walk along with you

CHORUS

3)
The calmness of the cuiillins
they slumber at their ease
once more we walk together
at last a day of peace
and breaking through the silence comes
the call of homing geese

CHORUS

4)
And now the summer’s fading
farewell to broadford bay
a journey now is over
we must be on our way
and like the geese that leave you
we’ll be back again some day

CHORUS

If you’re looking for recorded versions of this song (not the reel one), check out “Keltic Heritage” by North Sea Gas or Colin’s solo album “Scotlands Secret”.

    Hello,
I have a question about Colin Ramage. I’ve hear him sing on several gigs with north sea gas and I was wondering if Colin still does gigs in Scotland at the moment.
We loved his voice and guitar/mandoline performance and it would be great to hear him live on stage again.
As we are planning to go to Scotland again soon this summer, we we’re just wondering…….
Hope when you read this you can give us more information about gigs or so.
    We would be very grateful!!!
