{"id":164,"date":"2009-12-06T14:05:35","date_gmt":"2009-12-06T13:05:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hoover.gplrank.de\/?p=164"},"modified":"2009-12-06T14:14:25","modified_gmt":"2009-12-06T13:14:25","slug":"django-web-framework-revisited","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hoover.gplrank.de\/?p=164","title":{"rendered":"Django Python Web Framework revisited: Wow, just wow!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A while ago, I played around with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.djangoproject.com\/\">Django<\/a> and liked it so much I created a new admin interface for <a href=\"http:\/\/rfactor.gplrank.de\/\">rF Rank<\/a> (a simracing ranking site) to ease the task of adding and editing new tracks and cars for rFactor. <\/p>\n<p>Yesterday I finally got around to listen to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twit.tv\">FLOSS weekly<\/a> podcast episode featuring the Django guys, and decided to try a current subversion build of their web framework. To put it mildly, I was blown away. Working through the tutorial took all of 30 minutes, and there&#8217;s so many new features in the automated admin site that Django creates as in interface I think it&#8217;s high time to give this great project a really long, hard look.<\/p>\n<p>Ironically I&#8217;m typing this in a php-based blogging system, who knows, I may develop my own Django based site in a while once I&#8217;ve hit the limits with WordPress 8-P<\/p>\n<p>After all, if it&#8217;s good enough for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.de\/url?sa=t&#038;source=web&#038;ct=res&#038;cd=1&#038;ved=0CAcQFjAA&#038;url=http%3A%2F%2Fcode.google.com%2Fp%2Fgoogle-app-engine-django%2F&#038;ei=tKsbS876I4eI4QbSnszyAg&#038;usg=AFQjCNHvJB0QfTx2HQZ7oGB2kCns5ROdrQ\">Google<\/a>, it&#8217;s good enough for us, right? <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A while ago, I played around with Django and liked it so much I created a new admin interface for rF Rank (a simracing ranking site) to ease the task of adding and editing new tracks and cars for rFactor.
